INHA A192G polymorphism and its association with dairy traits in Antioquia Holstein cattle

چکیده

The objective of this research was determining the effect of the A192G polymorphism in some productive and reproductive traits in Antioquia Holstein cows. To achieve this, the technique PCR-RFLP was used to amplify a segment of 249 bp of the bovine inhibin alpha gene (INHA) which was digested with the restriction enzyme MspI. The effect of the INHA genotypes on the productive and reproductive traits was determinate by a Mixed Linear Model and Tukey Test was used to establish significant differences between means for the three genotypes. The effect of allelic substitution was studied through a linear regression model where the genotypes AA, AG and GG were transformed into a quantitative scale of 0, 1 and 2, respectively according to the number of possessed G alleles. In Antioquia Holstein cattle the most common genotype was the AG (0.529) followed by AA (0.269) and GG (0.201) genotypes. Allele frequencies were 0.534 for A and 0.466 for G. The INHA genotypes did not exert a significant effect on the principal productive parameters, except for fat percentage where GG animals presented the highest value for this trait. Despite it was not a significant effect of this polymorphism on reproductive parameters, Tukey test showed that G allele tend to have a detrimental effect on female fertility, increasing the calving interval and the number of services per conception, decreasing the reproductive efficiency of the herds. Further studies are required to determine whether this SNP may be used as a molecular marker.

Single nucleotide polymorphism of the lactoferrin gene and its association with milk production and reproduction traits in Iranian Holstein cattle

Bovine lactoferrin (LTF) is a member of the transferrin family of iron-binding proteins. This protein is present in a wide variety of biological fluids and shows important physiological functions in body. In this study, 404 blood samples were collected from Holstein dairy farms in Iran. A 301 bp fragment of intron 6 in bovine LTF gene was amplified and the animals were genotyped using polymeras...

Association of toll-like receptors 2 and 6 polymorphism with clinical mastitis and production traits in Holstein cattle

Mastitis is a costly disease of dairy cattle as it causes a loss in milk yield and milk quality in affected cows. Toll-like receptor (TLR) genes play a role in the host response to a variety of organisms including those inducing mastitis. In the present study, we investigated the polymorphism of TLR2, 4, 6 and 9 genes in Holstein cattle and ...

Objective. To determine the associations of BoLA DRB3.2 alleles present in Holstein and BON x Holstein cattle to production and milk quality traits in a dairy herd of Antioquia, Colombia. Materials and methods. Ninety-one cows, 66 Holstein and 25 BxH, were genotyped for the BoLA DRB3.2 gene, through PCR-RFLP technique. Furthermore, the association of the alleles of the gene BoLA DRB3.2 with mil...

Sequence Characterization in 3′-Flanking Region of Bovine TNF-α: Association with Milk Production Traits and Somatic Cell Score in Holstein Cattle of Iran

Background: Tumor necrosis factor- a (TNF-α) is a cytokine that was identified as a factor with a wide range of proinflammatory activities. The expression of bovine TNF-α in mammary tissue during pregnancy seems to have a role in development of the corresponding glands. Objective: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were defined in 3′-flanking region of...
